Just What Are We About?

Our research and practice over the past 30 years has shown us that a key to success in learning, training, business and personal life, is to continually seek to understand the changes taking place around us, and to creatively adapt and revise our beliefs and practices to live the fullest in the midst of those changes. Over the past six years, we have found the virtual environment of Second Life to be a powerful tool for helping understand the changes taking place today, as well as a great platform for testing and practicing how we might adapt.

Virtual Learning Experience-1

Our Fall session of the Virtual Learning Experience 1 gets underway the week of September 20! This fall we are expanding the VLE-1 to include an introduction to Second Life as well as OpenSim, as well as introducing our two newest SL islands serving as the home for TranceFormational Learning.

Virtual Learning Experience-Masters Level

The week of September 20 is also the beginning of the fall session of our Masters Level VLE program, our advanced learning community for those who have successfully completed a previous VLE program. The fall session of the VLE-M focuses on the development of real tools to enhance learning in the virtual environment.

Introduction to Tranceformational Learning

This theory is the result of our years of experience in business, traditional and distance-based learning, game design and development, and the use of virtual worlds for learning and training. The goal of TranceFormational Learning is to create activities that increase attention, for learning or business, leading to a broader collection of synaptic connections in the brain, leading to higher levels of learning. The 8 week Introduction to TranceFormational Learning Course will provide a full introduction to the theory and concepts of TranceFormational Learning, and enable participants to begin applying TL techniques to enhance learning.

Second Life "Hands-In" Workshops

Members of our groups such as the VLE and the Connective are invited to participate in the ongoing "Hands-In" workshops held in Second Life. These workshops cover a range of SL skills, as well as topics such as TranceFormational Learning, instructional design, group dynamics and more. Contact us for more information about these ongoing learning activities in SL.

About Orienting New Users to Virtual Worlds

With all of the talk about the large "learning curve" for virtual worlds like Second Life, we have spent some time re-thinking the approach to new-user orientation. We've narrowed our orientation process to a six-step experience...and it is working! Read about it here...

ImagiLearning Connective

While the Virtual Learning Experience is beginning its third year of existence, we are announcing the beginning of a very new program with ImagiLearning...our ImagiLearning Connective. The Connective is for those who are looking for a full and diverse professional development program based around the virtual world environment. In short, members of the ImagiLearning Connective have access to literally every program offered by ImagiLearning during the year. You can either pick and choose what you participate in, or let us help you design a 12 month professional development experience that captures the best of what we offer...including the new stuff!

ImagiLearning Logic System

We are also involved in some new advances with our ImagiLearning Logic System, our tool that makes it easy to create branched, decision-based activities in Second Life...without any scripting. We have three exciting new projects underway with some outstanding partners and will be posting more information about those soon.

Contract Partners

We are having a great time with our partners as we hook-up to push the boundaries a bit in the areas of business development, corporate training, distance learning, and new approaches to social networking. We partner with our fellow success-seekers to design programs, to strategize marketing plans, to create virtual spaces in Second Life, and a lot more.
