Tranceformational Learning

Welcome to the home of Tranceformational Learning. We invite you to browse the resources we will be placing here, and join in our exploration of a new approach to designing learning and training.

Along with information "about" Tranceformational Learning, we will also be highlighting some interesting applications of TL, from both the virtual and real-world environments, as well as from traditional education and corporate training environments. We currently have two examples ready to show here, and if you are interested we invite you to come visit us in Second Life and explore these activities for yourself.

Tranceformational Learning

Increasing attention leads to a similar increase in learning. Tranceformational Learning blends the elements of learner centered instruction, concepts of game design, current brain research, and virtual world technologies to create experiences that engage the full mind of the learner to create increased levels of learner attention.

Since the brain does not always clearly distinguish between what we might call "real" and "virtual" experiences, if we can create virtual activities that trigger emotional, visceral responses leading to increased synaptic connections...learning is enhanced.

While this increased attention is possible in 'real world' learning activities, the use of the virtual world platform brings the opportunities to an entirely new level. Tranceformational Learning answers the question about what virtual environments may have to offer learning, but the key is to TranceForm the design of the experience, regardless of where that experience occurs.

We invite you to read more about Tranceformational Learning as we add to this site, and talk with us if you have questions or would like to know more.
